[TVARC] Flagpole rope

I pulled my flag down do half mast this morning and noticed my rope has separated from the inner cord.  I'm getting 4-6 months out of my ropes and 6-8 months out of my flags.  The flags from the store on 441 hold up better than the ones from Amazon.  But I'd like to find a longer lasting rope.  It seems to be getting picks in the outer sheath from the screws between pipe sections.  Any suggestions?  I considered putting clear tape over the screws but worried about it coming loose or discoloring with weather.
