[TVARC] What do you all think of the Yaesu FTM-7250DR?

Looking for opinions on the Yaesu FTM-7250DR 2m/44 mobile to use as a home
station for our local repeaters.

In California, we used 2m for everything because 440 would barely reach my
wellhouse never mind a repeater, with all of our 120 foot UHF-eating fir
and spruce trees we had up in the California Gold Country. So I have a
Yaesu FT-2900R that made a great rig for hitting our region's nets on
repeaters near and far up there. Plus it is a simple rig for Toni and my
daughters to use.

I see a lot of Fusion on the local repeaters, so I'm guessing another Yaesu
would be a good way to go here.

So my questions:

How does this rig sound for this purpose? Are there other radios I should
be considering, from other brands or with different communication protocols?

Would a higher end rig like the FTM-300DR or FTM-400DXR provide enough more
functionality in line with what others are using the area to make it worth
the bit more of a financial stretch to get one?

Thanks,

Mark, W8BIT
