I made a QSO to VK4SX, Australia, 100 mi
north of Brisbane, yesterday. I was on 20 M (14.178), SSB, phone, at 21:11 UTC. He had a huge pile-up, and I managed to get through with my 31 ft. whip and 500W, after trying about 15 min. He reported hearing me at 5/9, I heard him 5/6. In addition he reported it was long path (15,000 mi), as he had his antenna pointed E for all his US contacts. I wonder how many skips that signal made?
Also today and yesterday I made several QSOs on 10 and 15M with US and Canada. Both were SSB, phone, 500W with the same antenna. Looks like the high bands are opening up.
