[TVARC] rtty contest

John,
The computer or WSJT-X crashes are all when using FT4 from the V2.2.x release. This issue was fixed in the V2.3.0-rc1 (September 28), and beyond.
It was first spotted (I believe) in the WW Digi contest back in August, and again called out in the FT RoundUp in December. By then the V2.3-rc1 release was available and I had no issues at all in December or this past weekend. And yet, there was several issues reported again about the crashes when using FT4, that were all attributed to the “current” general release.
My suggested is to upgrade.
I remember Field Day 2019 when I tried helping you with hooking up WSJT-X and N1MM+ with little to no success. I cannot explain why I was unable to do it, except for the pressure of many eyes watching me over my shoulder. I will admit it took several cracks at it before I got it going here on my PC, but the two programs work and play nicely together with no issues or resetting anything from one session to another. Also noteworthy is in the RTTY RoundUp this past weekend, I was able to switch back and forth between RTTY and FT8/FT4 by entering “RTTY” or “FT8” as appropriate into the callsign Entry Window in N1MM+.
Maybe the versions have matured since the summer of 2019, and maybe it is worth another try. Once I am resettled back in TV in March and the pandemic is hopefully behind us, I will be glad to come over to help you.

Well I never tried to use N1MM with WSJT,
for me that is a square peg in a round hole
and it just doesn't work! (for me, that is)
But using WSJT and N3FJP, it was a good
contest even though I didn't spend much
time on it.
105 qsos , all on 20 and 40M, FT4, no more
than 45 watts, I had some computer crashes
which I attribute to something in the contest
variance in WSJT, just a few occurrences that
I could not attribute to anything. Time on 6 hrs,
score 5964 pts.
LOTS of activity.
