Nice going, Pete. It WAS a bit of a slog, wasn’t it. Having done a LOT of tuning, I frequently ran across you calling CQ. I didn’t linger to hear whether you got answers, but I sometimes parked in the next available frequency near you to call my own CQs (often fruitless).
Here’s hoping TVARC is in contention for a gavel.

George K2DM

I had been hopeful that conditions might again be like they were back in
November or so, when 15 was wide open, and even 10 meters had a chance to
open to Europe. Alas, the sun did not cooperate this past weekend. 15 did
have some short EU openings on Saturday morning, but Sunday was pretty much
a bust, as were the rest of the bands. Had some success on Saturday all
around, with 536 QSOs for the first 24 hours, but for the most part Sunday
was just a hard slog.

Last year was better, probably because of the comparative Sundays. Made
1037/281 last year, compared with 777/200. 15 was actually slightly better
this year, or maybe I just had more time to give up on my futile CQing to go
check there and on 10. I keep being amazed that I can do as well as I do on
80, with just a low 40m vee. That Elecraft tuner really does the job.

I kept my eye on the contestonlinescore.com scoreboard throughout the
contest, and George, K2DM had an early lead. Well, couldn't let that stand,
and I persevered, closing the gap and finally pulling out to a lead in
numbers of QSOs and Mults. Feeling pretty good about myself, but then I
wondered what class he was running. Oops. Damn, George was running QRP!
Now I didn't feel so good. I'm running 100 times his power level, and I
sure ought to be beating him, and badly. But he does have some pretty nice
antennas, and he's a good op, so congrats to him!

Nice to see W3US, ND4G, K2TE, and K1CTR get in there and make some Qs.

Could there be a US #1 QRP plaque and/or a Local Club gavel in our future?
