The biggest DX contest of the year will begin 7P tonight. CQWW CW generally
attracts the most stations in the most DX countries. At least in normal
years you could expect to add some counters to our TVARC DXCC Standings.
Unlike the ARRL DX Contest, not everyone will be pointing their beams at us,
so we'll have to compete with everyone else, worldwide.
The exchange for us is simple: 59905. But most contesters make even that
simpler: 5nn5. Using most contest programs really only require us to copy
the call correctly, since they will fill in 599 and whatever zone the
callsign dictates.
Added benefit this year is the solar flux. At this writing it is 106, the
highest in years, and that means that 15 and even 10 meters have a good
chance of being open. Right now I'm working western European stations on
10M FT8, and the band has been open since a little after 9A. Don't miss
this opening each day! Be sure to check the band at around 9A. and if
nothing heard, then try 15. If you fail and end up on 20, keep checking
back for openings. Generally, you'll want to be on the highest frequency
band that is open.
Add your scores to the contestonlinescore.com so we can follow along with
your progress (see the "Clubs" menu choice). To set up using N1MM+, see
https://contestonlinescore.com/blog/documents/configuring-n1mm-logger/.
Good luck all!
73, Pete, K2PS
