Hi Members of TVARC’s MailList (especially those interested in emergency communications),
The Salvation Army Tactical Emergency Radio Net (SATERN) is activating to handle traffic, if any, from the the areas in Central America that are being impacted by Hurricane “Iota” (Category 5). This emergency net will be operating on 20 meters (at 14.265 MHz, or their alternate frequency of 14.312 MHz, plus or minus interference). The activation schedule and Net Control Stations (NECOS aka NCS) are contained in the forwarded e-mail (see below) from Ken G./ AG6SV, SATERN's Net Manager. This severe storm is NOT a threat to Florida.
You do NOT have to be an official member of SATERN to participate in their nets. However, you should LISTEN, LISTEN, LISTEN (and transmit ONLY when called upon). Your extra pair of ears may hear traffic that the net’s control station may not be able to hear; so, you could be invaluable as a “relay” station.
Stay safe from COVID-19.
73,
Tony/K4QR
