I'd say you did pretty well, considering.  My best suggestion is to use a
lot of fertilizer on that tree!

Well, I am still awaiting here in OTOW for approval of a real antenna; be it
a vertical or a flagpole.

In the interim, I took out of my goody box an old AN/GRA-50 military surplus
wire antenna. (Actually it was just the RC-432 wire spool).

>From my Kenwood TS-590s to an old (circa 1977) MFJ-941 antenna tuner in the
shack into my pass-through in the wall and then about 75' to the rear fence
in the back yard. The highest peak was about 6' off the ground over a small
(new) tree. The orientation is roughly north to south. Broadside east-west,
with most of the house on the east side.
