Great start, Tom. You’ll figure out what you can get away with and what you’ll need to optimize over time. Many of us came from way bigger stations that we can only wistfully remember. But we’ve got the Villages DXCC, WAS, and FT8 Standings and great camraderie. You’ll find that competing within The Villages can be just as, or even more rewarding.

Hello TVARCers:
I’m new to The Villages. Late Saturday and early Sunday morning, I finished putting a 20 meter dipole in the attic. Operated a few hours Sunday afternoon S&P.
Coming from a tower with monoband beams up north in Minnesota (along with a 1.5KW amp), I was quite doubtful that I would even be able to make some QSOs other than possibly the Caribbean. Boy was I surprised! Worked most stations on the first or second call (well, maybe a third time). I felt the thrill from my days as a Novice op. I was particularly concerned by QRN from my and neighbor’s electronic devices but the band was quiet.
So, I’m going to graduate soon to a flagpole antenna.
BTW, Congrats to TVARC members on great scores from K2DM, K2PS and K2PE (hmmm what’s the callsign pattern?).
