[TVARC] FCC Reduces Proposed Fees to $35

The FCC has reduced the proposed fee for amateur radio and GRMS license
transactions from $50 to $35.

Still to much to my mind, particularly as the per-transaction costs to the
FCC are practically nothing--they could reduce the costs even more by
allowing more of the VECs direct access to their databases like W5YI has,
rather than having a functionary who has to transfer information from a VEC
to the database, introducing delays, potential for error, and so on.

If I thought the money was going to honestly benefit amateur radio, for
example, paying for enforcement, then I would support a fee. However, the
funds received go into the government's General Fund, which, as far as
amateur radio is concerned, makes that money disappear.
