Thank you, Don!
After a glitch with my choice of the base mount insulation, which caused a short to ground, Don’s design of my flagpole antenna with the two flattops is again, working great!
Due to area constraints, as Cal mentioned in his reply, Don was not able to get my VSWR down enough to “not” require and external tuner. We spent several hours measuring and trimming the two flattop wires. Eventually Don got a decent compromise and my version, of his design, loads up from 80 thru 6 Meters using my LDG RT600. Depending on the band, the VSWR ranges from 1-1 to 1.3. As far as I’m concerned that is wicked excellent, Don!
“Thank you again for all your time and effort in designing my system!”
Also, a very special thank you to all my Ham buddies who aided in its construction!
George (K2DM), Earle (W1IPN), Don (W1EJM), Chuck (K9IA), Bob (W3RTA), Gary (W2TR), Dennis (W0SMX)
A Nice Design that works in TV!
73,
Tom G...

Your design solves most of those problems but with the added benefit of not requiring the expensive additional remote auto-tuner that many flagpole installations require. If an operator wishes to use, as an example, 500 watts then a high power auto-tuner is required. There is currently a 20’ OCF flagpole with LDG RT-600 tuner package advertised new for $1,095.00. I’ll guess that your design would come in at an exceptionally affordable price, especially if the operator were to do his/her own work.
