Ed et. al.

I was one of the 15 people licensed to operate 60M
before it was declared a ham band. Operated it
for 2 terms of the experimental license (4 years) My
call was WA2XSY-14 and I was the only one outside
of the U.S. The only thing we ever heard down there
was a station transmitting encrypted data, a few
fishermen and drug traffic. We had free reign from
5100 to 5450 - anything we wanted to do, just keep
it at 100 watts ERP or less.

It would have been a great digital band like 30M but
at the last moment Homeland Security came in and
nixed the deal.

Just tried it on FT-8, surprising amount of activity.
HA! How about that? A new band!!! Frequency is
5.357. The 20' flagpole and LDG remote autotuner
worked just fine!

Keep on clickin'
73,
J
