[TVARC] 13 Colonies

I will echo the nice going with a little envy thrown in.

Here in my rental in Ocala, I only got my station on the air “FINALLY” a couple of days ago, with yesterday being a total rain-out here.

I was able to work K2A, K2D, K2F, K2H, K2J, and K2M. I at least heard WM3PEN a few times, but never any luck, and I only saw the Brit being called once, but never heard him.

On the DX side of things, I was able to work YV5, PJ2, NP3, HK3, and V31; all with a borrowed TS450S, 35 watts into my bumper mount Hustler mobile antenna with a single band 20 mtr trap, mounted to a DirecTv mast 2 feet off the ground. My thanks to John/NP2B for the assist with the connectors to help me build the cable I needed to get outside. Only running FT8 here for now. Will probably try FT4, and JS8Call soon.

Nice going guys. I’ve got today yet to snag my one remaining holdout, K2C in Rhode Island. I called him patiently for over an hour last night on 40M until he went QRT, but, he never heard me in the noise.

I’ve worked 9 States on CW, the remaining 4 on FT8. All less than 50 watts with the OCF Flagpole.

I worked WM3PEN on FT8, but, never heard the Brit loud enough to even try. I attempted K2Z a couple of times, but, never could compete with the crowd.

Hopefully I’ll find K2C today for my Sweep.

Congrats on your accomplishments!

Bob, K3ZGA

GM all,

Ms. J and I got them all, and on FT-8, with

50 watts or less, into either screwdrivers or the

flagpole. One or two on phone or <gasp> CW

contacts for insurance purposes, but still managed

to fill the log with all FT-8.

The Brit was difficult because he was hearing

more of the states at one time. But patience

brethren, patience. Remember FT-8 can be

aptly described as "the art of clicking," coupled

with a little bit of well timed luck!

One day left.

My approach was to work them as I could, where ever I could. And then after my insurance contacts, I put effort in working them on 40 and all on CW.

This, I achieved at the 100w level. Clean sweep 40 CW excluding the Brit.

K2Z was working split. What a mess. But, I can be persistent.

The Brit was in there. Quite strong on 40cw last evening. What a Nut House. I gave it a try but too many desperate folks in one place at one time.

FT8 on steroids.

Then on to QRP.

I had hoped to replicate my efforts using QRP.

Almost did it too.

I will submit my 100w effort which is the same as last year and the year before.

Conditions were poor at best. I could hear the Brit often. Listened on phone and at one point tried to work him on SSB. For Shame. Had to bow my head

in submission to work K2J on FT8. But, “Never Mind”.

Lucky for me, K2J finally showed up on 40, after my desperate move to 80 for insurance.

Equipment: 100w using a Flagpole and LDG-600 tuner. Minimal at best.

“Just way too much stufffff to do and not enough time”
