Here is a photo of my ground rod tool.
House hose pressure is adequate. I use the coupler/shutoff at the end of the hose and suggest you do as well.
The left end photo shows a notch in the 1/2 ID PVC. Additionally, there is a screw across the notch.
When you use the tool you will need to twist the pipe +/- 90 degrees so the notch/screw will break up the clay.
Before you start, be aware that the water pressure will force up the material and make a 'hill' around the hole and the water will carry material where ever it wants too.
