Hi Members of TVARC MailList (especially those interested in using FT8 mode
in this weekend's ARRL RTTY Roundup Contest),

Other club members, notably Rich/ND4G and Pete/K2PS, have previously posted
blurbs to this maillist regarding this weekend's ARRL RTTY Roundup Contest
and the fact that FT8 mode is being allowed (PROVIDED you're using a
correctly configured copy of the WSJT-X v2.x software).

Over the past several days, I've been getting that software (WSJT-X v2.x)
prepared (configured) for the ARRL RTTY Roundup contest. During this
configuration process, I discovered three (3) articles that helped me. So,
if you need some help setting-up your WSJT-X for this contest, I heartily
recommend these articles:

*Article #1:*
*"FT9 in the ARRL RTTY Roundup" by Dr. Joe Taylor (K1JT),* QST Magazine,
January 2019, pp. 72-73.

Dr. Taylor's article is a MUST read for anybody preparing WSJT-X v2.x to
use FT8 in the ARRL RTTY Roundup Contest. It's concise, informative and
very well written. It's the "Bible" on getting your WSJT-X (FT8 mode)
ready for the RTTY Roundup!

You can access it at either of these web pages:

-OR-

-OR-

*Article #2:*
*"FT8 Roundup Preparation" by Don (AA5AU)*.

CAUTION: This article was written for the "FT8 Roundup" NOT the "ARRL RTTY
Roundup"! It's author is Don (AA5AU) and his "how to" steps to prepare
WSJT-X are applicable to both of these contests. You just have to be a bit
careful to insure that his settings make sense for the "ARRL RTTY Roundup"
contest. However, it's still worth consulting Don's article because his
description (including screen captures) are very clear. The URL provided
below gets you to his overview; you'll need to click on a series of other
URLs listed in this overview to get the full benefit of Don's configuration
wisdom.

*Article #3:*
*"FT8 to be Permitted in 2019 ARRL RTTY Roundup," the ARRL Letter*, dated
October 18, 2018

This ARRL news blurb covers a few points that the above authors neglected.

You can access this ARRL letter at this URL:

73 & Good Luck in the ARRL RTTY Roundup Contest,
