Hi Steve,

Well, after double-clicking on the CQ, you can just sit back and watch it - the computer should then read that "red" response, supply your signal report to him, then wait for his RR73, followed by the Log QSO window to pop up. Make sure that you've selected tab 1 (with Generate Std Msgs at the top) in the section of the screen just below Enable Tx.

And congrats on entering the FT8 world. I'll be looking for your call.

73, Pete, K2PS

Subject: [TVARC] FT 8 Procedures Help

I need some FT 8 Elmering. I’m running WSJT-X on a Mac and controlling my ICOM 7300 on 20 meters.

I see the band activity. I double clicked on a CQ that was highlighted in green. On the Rx Frequency side, I double clicked on the response back to me (with my call sign) and then it showed a signal report in red. After that I stopped since I didn’t know what I was doing and none of the You Tube videos that I could find went beyond what I did.

So, my question is, what are the proper procedures to follow once I double-click on a CQ?

On the positive side, I did make my first FT 8 QSO. I should have asked at Radio on the Square, but I didn’t think I would be up so quickly.

Thanks and 73,

Steve
