[TVARC] Fun Day

Was busy all weekend and so no chance to get on in the contest. But I just
had to work the boys at VP2MDG! Heard them on 20 and tried on and off to
bust the pile with no luck. Then I heard George work Fran, W9XYL, and then
Marty, WB2VYK, and so I wasn't giving up this time. Finally got him a few
calls later. Congrats all.

And looking forward to working Wayne on FT8.

Subject: [TVARC] Fun Day

Another fun day with ham radio. I decided to see if I could get FT8 set up
on my Flex 6400. With some expert help from WB2VYK it was quite simple.
Worked an EA4 on the regular 20 meter FT8 frequency, then decided to set up
for DX mode as a hound. After many calls to VP6D, I realized my beam was
pointing NNE rather than SSW. Rotated it south and VP6D was pounding in,
just a couple of minutes and I worked him. Then I saw that VP6D was on 17
meters RTTY and I thought that would be fun. Loaded up the 160 meter
inverted L and worked them after a few minutes of calling. Now have 9
contacts, but I have to work if I going to match K9IA's success on cw, all
bands 40 - 10. . Nice going, Chuck.

So far I've worked the guys at VP2MDG on 40, 15, and 10. It's been hard
finding them in a US band space, but then, we don't offer much for
multipliers. 10 was wide open this afternoon to DX. I've also worked a
few other contacts in the CQWWSSB on all bands 160 - 10.

After 61+ years ham radio just doesn't get old; always something new going
on.
