All,
James (below) was at our “Radio On The Square” event this afternoon looking for some technical assistance with a radio project. Can any of you with an engineering background out there lend some assistance with what he wishes to do?
I couldn’t help because I had been doing software design for the last 25 years prior to retirement, and my hardware design experience is now lost and long forgotten in my college textbooks. My textbooks BTW, are all in use on top of my kitchen cabinets as pedestals for the XYL’s home decorations.

Rich, ND4G

I have a question
Comment
I talked to George at the Sumter Landing meet on 11/24/2018, and he suggested I post my question on the clubs website.
I want to build a one station radio using a 640 khz fixed crystal ( the villages a.m. radio) instead of a variable tuning capacitor.
The one I found on the internet says to use the following parts.
1 megaohm resistor (x1)
10nF capacitor (x1)
15-20 in (25.4-50.8 cm) of red and black insulated wire
2,000 or 2,200pF variable tuning capacitor
22uF electrolytic capacitor (x1)
33pF capacitor (x1)
50–100 ft (15–30 m) insulated wire (any color; for the antenna)
9-volt battery (x1)
Electronics breadboard
Electrical tape
Operational amplifier (also called an op-amp; x1)
Small, non-conductive cylinder (glass bottle, cardboard/plastic tube, etc.)
Speaker.
>From the website, https://www.wikihow.com/Create-a-Simple-AM-Radio Maybe one of your members can help me with this. Thank You, Jim Smith 352-897-1625
