Hi Members of TVARC's Maillist (especially those interested in contesting),
Earlier, I posted a "brag" about my results from the 2018 ARRL Sweepstakes
SSB Contest. However, I wanted to add some additional comments via this
subsequent posting.
Although band conditions were far from ideal, the openings that did occur
on 20 and 40 members (at least during the time period that I operated)
provided the much needed impetus to keep me 9and others) working this
contest. Of the 83 total sections (ARRL & Canadian RAC), I worked 56.
This [56 sections worked] is possibly my "personal best" for this contest.
It certainly is my personal best since moving to The Villages, FL. My
total points (13,776) is my "second best ever" for this contest and
certainly the highest total I earned in this particular contest since
setting up a ham shack in The Villages.
During my operating period, I heard very few other TVARC members. The only
member that I worked was John E. (as W4MRJ instead of his usual NP2B). The
only other member that I heard was George B. (K2DM).
My thanks to Frank M. (KA1AF), Ron A. (K4YCW), and others (if any), who
managed to get TVARC's contesting group setup with the ARRL's contesting
folks. Perhaps, our club's contesting group name will start to appear in
the pull-down lists on the ARRL's contest submission websites and the "
3830scores.com" website.
>From the postings (aka "brags") so far, it sounds like our members who
participated in this year's Sweepstakes (SSB) contest had a good time and
enjoyed the thrill of contesting. We look forward to more members joining
the club's contesting group.
73,
Tony/K4QR
