[TVARC] FT8 Hound

For all you FT8 users:

 

I discovered something today after trying to work KH2F early this morning on
40m in Hound mode that any users of the beta version of WSJT-X 2.0 should be
aware.

 

Apparently, when one goes to Settings | Advanced, and checks "Hound," some
other things happen that you need to remember when switching back out of
"Hound" mode:

"Always generate 77-bit messages" must be manually unchecked on the Advanced
tab

"Decode only 77-bit messages" must be manually unchecked on the Advanced tab

Reset "Hold Tx Freq," on the main screen, if you had it checked (you should
always have it checked, BTW).

 

A new version is due out in a few days (rc4).  I don't know whether this has
been fixed.

 

If you do not uncheck those two boxes, no one will answer you and you will
start wondering whether your antennas are working, and whether your radio is
set improperly, and perhaps start blaming your spouse, and who knows what
else!
