Most members know I enjoy antenna modeling and building as my main interest in our hobby.
I do operate daily, but casually, no DX'ing or contest, usually just chats with friends.
So, what's different now....
Marilyn traveled to a convention in Houston this week, so I am minding Mr. Cat.
This morning Mr. jumped on me at 4:45am ...
Mr. runs the house, so I got up. Turned on the radio and heard a couple of VK's coming in on 40 meters.
I called VK3MO on 7.150MHz SSB and had a nice 40 minute QSO with him and another station as a 3 way. Mostly we yacked about antennas, a nice way to wake up.
The antenna used here was the HF "Flattops on Flagpole" as I described at the TVARC meeting this past Spring.
I submitted that antenna to the 2018 ARRL contest and received honorable mention for it and expect it to be in QST within a few months.
The point being.... don't take Mr.'s bounding into bed lightly, the some band is open.
Don W1EJM
