I agree that CW should, and probably will, always be a part of ham radio.
As for CW readers, there are some real advantages. With code no longer a license requirement there needs to be a way to get people interested and auto decoders (as bad as they are) just might be the vehicle that maintains interest.
I lost my speed on CW due to a long lay off from ham radio so I reverted to FLDIGI for CW. With it, my contest speed by ear is over 30 wpm and regular speed almost over 20 wpm. My fist is also improving. How many contesters use CW macros?? Many!!
Computer integration into ham radio does not have to be bad - just more modes and improvements in ability to make contacts.
Without change and evolution our hobby could easily disappear. We can’t live in the past forever!!!
