[TVARC] FT8 during ARRL Field Day

There’s a “DXpedition mode” we need to investigate, where the setting can be “Fox” or “Hound”. Cute analogy, not unlike the “S&P” or “Run” in N1MM, but that may help. As for the “CQ FD callsign”, that may already be supported in the first message. You can change Msg1 to insert a state prefix, or DX, or in this case FD.
The issue we have is instead of the db (signal report) exchange, we need to alter it for the FD exchange. In normal mode, when you double click on a station when in the S&P mode (or “hound” using their new parameter), the double click would pre-fill the “standard messages” which we do NOT want. Also, the double-click moves your Tx frequency. You probably only want to change your Rx frequency to bring focus on the station of interest. To do that you would left single click on the waterfall to only change the Rx frequency.
I will try to play with it this coming week.

How about ......CQ FD Call Sign?

Probably need to run some tests but you can create a macro such as “K4VRC 2A NFL” and with WSJTX not in the auto sequence mode after sending the first call message you can manually send the FD macro and after receiving the other stations message a macro containing a 73.
If they say it is a maximum of 13 characters including spaces, then why is the first standard generated message a max of 16 characters? Is the limit of 13 only for the custom macros?

Hi Ed,
That is what I thought too. Maybe the
FT-8 team will come up with a temporary
patch for it for Field Day. After all, it is still
3 months away!

Tnx for taking the initiative, John. After looking at the WSJT-X files,
it is not possible to edit the fields except for the "73" message.
Therefore, K1JT and company would have to mod it for Field Day use.
