[TVARC] FT8 during ARRL Field Day

I am not following you but if this is proven
to be a viable way, it needs to get published
nationally so folks can practice with it and be
familiar with it before the contest starts.
Also, because of the incredible amount of activity
that FT-8 would generate, it might be prudent to use
another 3KHz segment, kind of like now defunct
Bouvet dxpedition was going to do.
Message 5, the only "free form" message has a
limit of 13 characters but that doesn't hold true
with the other standard messages. You can have
"WA3ABC WA4XYZ EL98" and that is more than
any 13 characters.
Now, if you have a contact with a station and you
send a free form message in message 5, it doesn't
get logged by WSJT's logging program.
Clearly, if there is a way of doing field day contacts
on FT-8, it might be a lot of fun to do it. It would be
interesting to see how the QRM issue worked out with
1000 "hearable" stations, all competing in a 3KHz
window!
Food for thought,
73,
