I am aware of this approach to exchangingthe FD information in an FT-8 message, but, as you suggest in your email, we will not be using it in the TVARC FDexercise. If you're interested in experimenting with the FT8 digital mode for this year's Field Day event, then you may want to take a look at the attached "How To Document,", which Bob McGraw (K4TAX) recently posted to the ICOM IC-7610 group (Groups.io).
For your convenience, I've converted Bob's MS Word document into an Adobe Portable Document format (*.PDF) document and only attached the PDF.
