Very nice story, dude!
It’s a nice call and is easy for CW.
I’m going to try for OSH1T, Earl and operate it with a /4.

Hello All,

While walking down my High School corridor in 1956, I heard sounds coming from a small darkened room; "CQ, CQ, CQ; CQ DX". I peeked in and saw 2 kids working a massive, to me, electronic device. It whistled and crackled and a voice from it gave some strange letters and numbers. One of the 2 boys answered, "this is W1IPN at Mount Hermon School". The memory of that experience stayed with me, as did the memory of the call.
Some 60 years later another chance meeting at The Villages Amateur Radio Club demonstration set me, with the help of Joe AB3CR, on a path to get my HAM license which in March 2015 I did and in Feb 2016 upgraded to General.
Things do seem to happen in, ?3?s?, so it should not surprise me, or you dear reader, that during a QSO in June 2018 with Mario K2GZW and Roger W4RFT, Roger commented that Mario?s call once belonged to him many years ago. A lively conversation evolved around the subject of calls and I mentioned my fascination with the club call from Mt. Hermon and how I would love to have it be my call. Right then and there Mario looked it up and found it was available. With some gentle persuasion he convinced me to apply for it and today the FCC notified me that I am now W1IPN. Thank you Mario!
