[TVARC] "13 Colonies" Special Event 2018: K4QR's "Brag"

HI Members of TVARC's Maillist,

The 2018 "13 Colonies" Special Event ended at midnight this morning
(Sunday, July 8, 2018, at 00:00 EDT/04:00 UTC).  I managed to get ALL 13
colonies (a "Clean Sweep"); but I only got one (1) bonus station (WM3PEN)
of the two (2) possible.  All total I worked 18 QSOs (10 on 20 meters & 8
on 40 meters; 16 on SSB & 2 on FT8; ) spanning the entire time frame of
this special event (July 1 through July 8 UTC).

IMHO, this year's event was the most difficult so far because band
conditions were poor (thanks to our "freckle-less" Sun) and it appeared
that more people were involved as the pile-ups were HUGE and hard for my
100 watt signal to break through.  This year my nemesis (hardest to get)
colony was Rhode Island (call sign K2C).  The bonus station (GB13COL in
England) eluded my grasp.  I heard him/her a few times but each time it was
barely above my noise level.

The "13 Colonies" special event is a fun-filled way to celebrate our
country's Independence using your amateur radio skills.  So, I encourage
those who haven't tried it to join in next year's fun and celebrate the
