[TVARC] ARRL's Proposals: Eternal Vigilance is the Watchword

Hi Members of TVARC's Maillist/Reflector,

I am not yet convinced that the ARRL's Board of Directors (BoD) and the
ARRL's Executive Officers have really got "the message" that came through
loud & clear from the uproar triggered by the outrageous, anti-democratic
proposals to change the ARRL's governing documents & the tabled attempt to
censure a member of the ARRL's BoD. Yes, they did not pass these draconian
proposals (but their appointing a committee to review their governing
documents may be a back door way of bringing them up again later).
However, only tabled the censure (kicking the can down the road).

Indeed, my skepticism about whether they have really got the message
remains high because of a recent article that ARRL's President Rick
Roderick (K5UR) recently published. It's true Mr. Roderick published his
article prior to the BoD's meeting and withdrawal of those proposals; so,
maybe, in hindsight, Mr. Roderick has changed his tune. I sincerely hope
that's the case.

You can read Mr. Roderick's article at this URL:

http://www.arrl.org/news/a-note-to-members-from-arrl-
president-rick-roderick-k5ur .

So, IMHO, the ARRL membership can not become complacent; rather, we must
remember that famous quote that "eternal vigilance is the price of liberty.”
