[TVARC] TVARC.... Meeting Our Students

Our TVARC meeting on Thursday evenings was productive from the point of view that 5 (or 6) of our 8 students, who accepted my phone/email invitation, came to our meeting. 


Maybe all but one might have come on their own, who knows, but if only one came because of my effort.... I am satisfied.



Funny, they were all in the room, while I was waiting for them in the hall, but that's OK. They attended, had a chance to meet some members, had a chance to enjoy a presentation and in the end I had a chance to meet most of them as well.


So, here is hoping they will join us for future meetings. My hope was to get our students into the flow of the club and at least that's underway.


Over the years I have made it a point to write down the name and (from) QTH of our guests and 1st timers and then during the short break I try to chat with one or two of them.


Good reasons (for me) are that they come from a town or state I have lived or visited, or they have express an interest in a topic I have interest in as well, whatever. Hopefully the effort will peak their interest in our club.


So, my 'new student work' is done now until fall classes start up, but I will continue to try to meet the new folks on the break before our presentation begins at each meeting.


I urge you to do the same....
