Very nice, Pete, especially with limited time and 100W.  You will find that 400-500W makes aworld of difference.  I called, and worked, stations that were so weak that I never would haveeven tried calling with 100W.73,George

The XYL decided at the last minute to attend to family matters up north,
leaving me with only food instructions and a radio.  Unfortunately, I had
all sorts of plans for the weekend (golf, a neighbor's birthday party,
trivia competition, etc.), so I couldn't just spend the whole weekend in the
contest.

Even so, I could spend "quality time" putting the 7610 through its paces.
One thing I learned, is that on 10 meters, with the Noise Reducer on, I
could hear absolutely nothing, even with the audio turned all the way up.  I
could find a weak station or two there, but only by using the panadapter.
Turning NR off at least gave me some background noise and I felt better,
even though there really wasn't much to work on that band anyway.

Conditions were only fair.  I did catch a European opening of sorts on 15,
early Sunday morning, and worked a few stations, but mostly it was Caribbean
and South American stations on that band.  Was happy to have 39 mults there,
though.  20 and 40 were the most productive, but calling CQ was pretty
limited this time around.  I did work two Caribbean stations on 80, but my
tuner is not real happy about it (unlike that of K2DM), so I didn't press
the issue.

Nice going George.  I really ought to look into a small amp.  500W is
probably not going to bother the neighbors or the XYL, and since I'm not
planning to win most of these contests, going HP because it's just more fun
makes sense.  It's not fun when stations just can't hear me - I tended to
just avoid any pileups, easier that way.

Ed, K2TE did really well, especially on 80.  That's another thing I need to
think about.  Finding another 40 mults as well as a whole bunch of workable
stations besides what can be found on 40 meters at night is very attractive.
Like Ed, maybe I could get a low 80M inverted vee up for the weekend.

>From the club, only ever heard K2DM in there, just moving down the band,
knockin' them off, one by one.  Nice to see Chuck, K9IA, Bob, K3ZGA, and
Dennis, N0SMX get in there too.

I did work one new DX, T8CN in Palau for my TVARC DXCC, and updated the
listings for Bob and Dennis.
