[TVARC] remote tuner

Hi John,
I am using the MFJ-994BRT which is the 600watt version. It works OK, except for 80 meters. I suspect the length of the added wire is about ½ wave (Inverted-L), making the impedance very low (or very high), and the tuning range of the tuner is not as broad as the LDG or SGC tuners. But it can handle the power. My KPA-500 runs very nicely with the tuner. Even 160 meters no problem (tuner and amp).
I never made it down to Hamcation due to some unforeseen circumstances that occurred Saturday evening. I had a shopping list and my number 1 item was buying the 1.5KW version MFJ-998. It has a broader tuning capability, and I was hoping that would solve my 80 meter issue.
Maybe I should do the obvious and just tweak the length. Cheaper solution, too.

Rich, ND4G

Hope you all had good trip to the hamfest in
Orlando, those of you who had the opportunity
to attend.
Question: Who has used the MFJ 993 or 994
remote weatherproof antenna tuner(s)?
Also the LDG RT-600 weatherproof model.
And what kind of success have you had with
them? (993, 994 or RT-600) Application would
be a 20' flagpole.
Comments appreciated.
