Hi Members of TVARC's Maillist,
Time to get ready for an exciting, year-long event that Canadian amateur
radio operators are hosting in 2019. This event is the Canadian National
Parks on the Air (CNPOTA). It promises to be a fun event with a bit of a
competitive edge.
Since CNPOTA is patterned after the ARRL's National Parks on the Air
(NPOTA) event, which was held in 2016, and proved to be an wildly popular
event, it should be relatively easy to get geared-up and ready for the
CNPOTA kick-off on New Year's Day 2019. This special event will run from
00:00 UTC Jan 1, 2019 til 23:59 UTC Dec 31, 2019.
Participation in CNPOTA is OPEN to ALL persons holding a valid ham radio
license issued by any nation in the world. They are welcome to participate
as "chasers" and/or "activators." As activators, they are encouraged to
activate any of Park Canada's 48 national parks and 171 national historic
sites. As chasers, they will attempt to make contacts with "activated"
sites. Their accomplishments, as activators and/or chasers, will be
tracked on a website featuring a real-time leader board. They may also
compete for online awards and certificates.
For more information and to get ready for this exciting, year long, special
event hosted by our brother and sister hams in the Maple Leaf nation, see
this website: *https://cnpota.ca <https://cnpota.ca>*/ . Also, be sure to
register at this website, so you'll be ready to participate the minute the
"ball" drops on the prime meridian in Greenwich, England and 2019 is
officially ushered in UTC time.

P.S. Our thanks to the article in "The ARRL Letter for December 6, 2018"
for giving us a "heads-up" about this upcoming CNPOTA special event.
