Thanks to K3ZGA, K2DM, ND4G, and WB2ART (hope I haven't missed anyone) for
the QSOs last night.

A little recap:

Not much going on at the 7P start. I did manage to snag an Argentinian(LU)
station for my first QSO, but aside from some weak Brazilians(PY), pretty
much all I could hear/work were Florida stations. Switched over to SSB and
worked a PY and HI (Dominican Rep). Not much else there either. Back to
CW, and at about 8P things started to get a bit interesting. It began
slowly, with signals pretty weak, but hearing some Midwestern stations and
working a few. Then, around 815P it seemed time to call CQ, with the beam
pointed at about 330 degrees, and things really got going. A pretty good,
steady stream of callers, from IN, IL, WI, OH were worked, with an
occasional station from IA, MI and TN mixed in. The rate meter was peaking
at around 135 QSO/hr, so I was pretty happy. About an hour later it had
slowed, and I wanted to switch to SSB to be sure I could pick up the same
multipliers (add the QSO points from both modes [2 pts SSB, 4 pts CW], and
multiply by the sum of states/provinces/countries from both modes for total
score). Found six of them - there's not nearly the activity on phone as CW.
Back to CW and the band shifted a bit toward TX first, and then to the
mid-atlantic states, and so I picked up NY, NJ, PA, MD. I did find VE3 (ON)
and a Mexican (they count too for each of their states since a few years
ago). Back to SSB at about 1030P and tried calling CQ with limited success,
but I did grab a few states before returning. Finally called it quits
around 1130, but pretty happy with the way it went.

Totals so far:

CW - 151 QSOs, 27 states/prov, 2 countries

SSB - 20, 10, 2

Total score 26,404

Compare that to last year's FINAL score of 11,032 where I finished #7
worldwide! So I guess conditions were better than I had hoped. J

Waiting for daybreak now, and hoping for a highly unlikely European opening.

73, Pete, K2PS
