Hi Members of TVARC's Mail-list and All My New Ham Friends:
We still need a few more volunteers for “RoS 2017” so I am reposting a notice sent out by our Treasurer, Tony Hackenberg/K4QR, requesting volunteers from TVARC folks!
I also plan to meet during Social time before the business meeting on the (19th) to meet all of the RoS Volunteers and talk about planning the event.
Please take another look at, Tony’s notice...
Thank you and “73”,
Tom Grosvenor

“Hi Members of TVARC's Maillist,
Tom Grosvenor (NV1U) has volunteered to be the club's Event Chair for "Radio on the Square 2017" (RoS). However, Tom is going to need your help in order to make this event a success. To volunteer to help at this event, click HERE, or go to the club's website & use the pull-down selection list under the "Sign up for Activities" menu item near the top of the homepage.
Tom needs you to sign-up to help accomplish the many tasks that need to get done to pull off this event. These tasks include planning, setting up, operating, staffing information tables, taking down, etc.
RoS is an annual, club-sponsored event held in The Villages. This year it will be held on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. ET, at Lake Sumter Landing Market Square.
RoS' goals/objectives are to:
Introduce ham radio to the public;
Encourage interested members of the public to enroll in club-sponsored licensing classes to become a ham;
Help get new, or upgraded, hams on the air; and
Provide an opportunity to experiment with equipment & antennas in a non-contest (non-competitive) environment.
The timing of this year's RoS is fortuitous as it will he held on the Saturday (Nov. 25th) after Thanksgiving (Nov. 23rd). This is fortuitous for a couple of reasons. First, some/many snowbirds will have returned to The Villages; so the number of people potentially interested in coming to our RoS is increased. Second, relatives/friends from out-of-town may be visiting their counterparts in The Villages and this could also increase the pool of interested people willing to stop-by our RoS event. Also, younger people (grandkids) could also be visiting their relatives (grandparents) and this might give RoS the opportunity to introduce ham radio to the younger generation.
73,
Tony Hackenberg/K4QR
TVARC's Secretary”
