Well, I have to agree that trashing new modes and new capabilities just does not fit into ham radio.
This is a hobby and new techniques and new processes have been around since the beginning. I remember people putting down SSB.
“Can’t understand them - too hard to tune in - etc etc”. Change is inevitable and can only lead to new and sometimes better things.
However, keep in mind, the old does not really go away. There are still some AM people and SK people. The other night, I had a one hour CW QSO
With a ham from WV - speed about 13wpm and he was using an old Drake transmitter with an old Hallicrafters receiver.
(I did notice some frequency drift!! - probably a bad crystal or bad external vfo!!)
Now where did my Hallicrafters SX-99 and Harvey Wells TBS-50D go??? Have to fire them up along with my special underground antenna.
I think it was called a ground plane antenna.
