[TVARC] Rain and loud noises

Rich is right. The excessively high sound came from the sound system not the audience. The audience can't think, talk, or even move during the "concert" (better words would be wall of sound). What compels the musicians to have such high levels of sound is beyond me. You can't hear individual instruments, there is no musicality, no emotion (except that I want to get out of there - and have many times), just NOISE!
I attended a Joe Bonamassa concert in Jacksonville a few months ago. I take a sound level meter with me these days. We left after 10 minutes. The sound level was 103 dBa! Way, way above a normal loud level of 85 dBa (what you might do at home with the hi-fi turned way up.
Why?

Not possible. Baby Boomers don't scream that loud.

I had over 100dB in noise level.
Oh wait; I was at the Paul McCartney concert in Tampa last night.
