[TVARC] Second Thoughts on HR555

I agree that HR555 does not look like it will help us much if at all.  I
read Jim's assessment and agree with him.  His bio clearly shows he knows
what he is talking about.  I also know Fred, K1VR from my YCCC days.  He
helped a number of NE hams with PRB-1 issues, all pro bono!  I was pissed
at an earlier commentary attributed to one of the League's DC lawyers
blasting Fred as a second-rate lawyer.

I doubt we will ever see an overt antenna structure in The Villages
because of the long-lasting RFI issues villagers have from their youth
with respect to hams.  (Maybe in 40 years when today's wired generation
moves in it will change.)  

I wonder if the club ought to pursue a club station with an overt antenna
structure in the one of the future villages to the south.  With all the
land The Villages has bought, surely there is some place out of sight of
the aesthically sensitive types where we can be.  If a new police/fire
substation were to be built in the new villages a small room and tower on
the edge of the complex would be great.  It would also serve as an
auxilliary EMCOM asset when needed.
