I'm really starting to like this contest. It's one of the few that gives us
here a more equal footing with the big guys up north. It's low power for
all, and low antennas sometimes can outperform those on 50-foot plus towers.
Lots of stations on, and CQing can produce results. Plus, it's only 10
hours. So if you can get the OK from the XYL, you're golden! I was
encouraged to get on by my former Potomac Valley Radio Club contesters, and
so contributed my score to them. Maybe some day we'll be able to have a
TVARC club score...
40 meters was the money band for me. A lot fewer stations with yagis on
that band, and so I was able to do a good amount of running. 10 meters was
open just a bit at the start (2PM), and 15 had its moments, but just
spotlighting various states. Even managed 24 QSOs on 80 with my 40M vee, so
that was worth a few mults too.
And got a good start to my TVARC WAS totals :)
