FW: [TrunkCom] NJ State Police Type I TG's as Type II's

This actually applies to North, South and Central - I'm not referring to the
new type II talkgroup ID (such as the ones you noted) but rather a
work-around that allows you to 'fool' the scanner into receiving the 'type I
version' talkgroup while the radio is set-up for a type II system. In other
words I have one bank set up as a type-II bank and I have in some type-II
talkgroups, like NorthStar and SouthStar, and in that same bank I have
talkgroups 6144 and 6160 and can hear 3-Comm cars on 6144 and 3-Comm
dispatcher on 6160.

Were you attempting to monitor NJSP North, Central or South? I do not have
the 250D, but I have no difficulties receiving two-way communications on my
780xlt either with their IIi hybrid or II system. I'm not aware of all the
changes that have been made, but for the "south" division, I have no
difficulties with 4-COMM Central Patrols - 35760 or 5-COMM South Patrols -
35792 that are programmed into their own bank.

I have never toyed much with NJSP in the past, but just started playing with
it on the Uniden 250D. Since they are going back and forth between Type I
and Type II TG's during their conversion from a Type IIa to a Type II , I
decided to just use 1 bank in the radio and load the Type II's. Then I
thought about taking the Type I equivalents to Type II's, and load them to
see what happens.

So, for those TG's who are still type I, (I'll use 3-Comm for my example), I
put in decimal 6144 (between hexes 17F and 181) and I hear all of the 3-Comm
cars, whether they are talking to each other or talking to the dispatcher. I
DO NOT hear the dispatcher though with this 6144 TG.

So, I then entered 6160 (hex=181) and I hear the dispatcher on this, but I
DO NOT hear the cars on this 6160 TG.

So I find that by having both 6160 and 6144 TG's in a Type I bank, I get the
full conversation. This same thing holds true for the other Type I TG's
too.

For example:
2-Comm Cars= 4096
2-Comm Disp=4112

3-Comm Cars=6144
3-Comm Disp=6160

4-Comm Cars=8192
4-Comm Disp=8208

5-Comm Cars=10240
5-Comm Disp=10256

6-Marine Unit=12288
6-Marine Disp=12304

This seems to work on both the NJSP South and the NJSP Central Systems I
have checked it against while running trunker software at the same time to
see what the system is doing.

Does anyone have any insight into why this works? (I see the difference is
decimal 16 in each case.)

Many thanks!!
