[TrunkCom] Digital 250D Scanner Concern

First is the good news from the manual: "You can use your scanner while the
battery charges. To fully charge the battery, leave the AC adapter/charger
connected for 14-16 hours."

The manual also goes on to say:
"NOTE: Disconnect the AC adapter/charger from the unit when charging is
complete"

The concerns:
1) The is no visual method of verifying that the battery has reached its
full charge state. OK, note a real big deal, right? WRONG!!!

2) If you leave the adapter/charge plugged into the radio for much longer
than 16 hours, the battery pack, and thus the entire radio, begin to heat
rapidly. How much heat you might ask? Since I don't have a temperature
surface-measurement device I will just say that it is hot enough to heat the
entire exterior of the radio case! As for the battery pack itself, let's
just say that you don't want to be walking around with it in your pants
pocket, even in Antarctica!

This 'concern' looks like it could be a real problem. Should you forget to
physically disconnect the charger/adapter from the radio after 16 hours, the
heat builds fast. We have all read about the hazards of charging circuits
that fail to take into account the charge status of the battery pack and
then taper down the charge. (I'm not saying that is the case here, yet, but
this is a real concern, since the "charger/adapter", in reality, appears to
only be charger and you cannot run the radio on a continuous basis from the
'charger/adapter'.)

Are others seeing this too now that they have had a few days to use it?? Or
do I have a problem unit?
