Wide FM is the mode used by FM broadcasters, as well as the military 
(sort of, they actually use something that is about halfway between wide 
and narrow FM, if I recall correctly). Simply put without getting too 
technical, Wide FM signals use about 15kHz spectrum per signal, while 
Narrow FM analog signals use 5kHz. The more modern NFM signals commonly 
use 2.5kHz. Wide FM is used for FM broadcast as it gives much better 
fidelity at the receiver end.
