Also confirmed that the Stark County, Ohio Sheriff is running their 800
MHz frequencies in Astro-25 conventional mode.

Audio on the 250D is pretty good, and it's a good, hefty scanner with a
nice feel, about the same size as a BC245 but just a tad larger. As one
of the guys in the local ham radio club says, "It's a good, manly radio,
not one of these dinky little sissy radios".

If you were planning on not buying a 250 simply because it won't do
9.6k, you might want to rethink that decision. The BC250D may not track
9.6k systems, but look past that to all the other things this scanner
will do. It's a dilly, jam-packed with a slew of great features. I
really like it.

It's not too hard to get to know, either. If you're familiar with
programming a 780 by use of the menus, programming the 250 will be
pretty much intuitive. There are some differences, but it's really
pretty easy to get used to, and once you get going it's a blast!

Of course, if you're in an area that is exclusively 9.6k I can
understand your decision not to part with your hard-earned dough, but
here's something else to keep in mind: you can use the 250 or 785 until
a 9.6k capable scanner comes out, sell the 250/785 for a couple hundred
$$ to someone who has no need for 9.6k capability, keep the digital
card, buy a new scanner and install the digital card in it. You can thus
monitor the 9.6k system conventionally at first, then later you're in
like Flint.
