They did change that 5 delay, eg 245-1.  I would think the plan is that the 
cost of producing radios is just too high and Uniden is looking for a cheaper 
way to cut down.  Ergo digital cards.  Maybe for a price you can send in your 
digital card for a flash upgrade.  We'll probably see this radio hanging 
around for 3-4 years.
