Motorola Introduces AirMobile™ 3.5 Mobile Information Management System
Allows Mobile Users to Access Important Information Updates from the
Field

SCHAUMBURG, Ill., June 26, 2002—Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) today
announced the introduction of AirMobile™ 3.5, a wireless solution
designed for the secure and seamless transfer of the latest data to
field personnel. AirMobile 3.5 is part of Motorola’s extensive portfolio
of integrated communications and information solutions to address
mission-critical public safety and security requirements worldwide.

AirMobile 3.5 is an innovative software system that allows users in the
law enforcement and public safety communities to quickly and easily
manage and transfer large amounts of data to mobile users in the field
while preserving the use of their wireless wide area networks. The
AirMobile solution virtually eliminates the need to take vehicles out of
service for file and application upgrades, transferring information
while vehicles are in the designated coverage area, with minimal user
involvement.

AirMobile 3.5, the latest version of Motorola’s wireless data solution,
offers several new features to streamline the mobile information
management process. With File Based Version Management, AirMobile will
only transfer updated files to the field, saving valuable time,
bandwidth and resources.

AirMobile system administrators are now able to view inventory
information for all AirMobile client machines. The Inventory Manager
offers detailed information about the system including installed
programs, hardware and software usage profiles and installed, data
packages. This provides agencies with an audit trail for all information
accessed at the field level.

With today’s increased focus on security, users are looking for
solutions that can protect their data transfers. AirMobile is designed
to meet these needs and now provides users with the ability to encrypt
all transmitted data using 256-bit data encryption. Encryption may be
enabled or disabled during or after data transfer set-up.

AirMobile also features distributed architecture, which allows users to
establish and access multiple geographic server locations minimizing
system congestion throughout city, county and state municipalities. This
allows for better infrastructure utilization and increased system
performance.

“Data sharing has become a number one priority for our agency and the
rest of the law enforcement community,” said Chief James T. Butts, Jr.
of the Santa Monica, Calif. Police Department. “AirMobile allows
information to move efficiently throughout our jurisdiction for
distribution to all field personnel providing valuable, rapid and secure
access to critical communications.”
