[TrunkCom] quick antenna question

Quick question here --

My 780XLT is deaf for the Marion County MECA system, which is just 10 =
miles down the road from me.  I am using an external antenna.  However, =
when I have my PRO-94 running with just the attached rubber ducky, I can =
pick them up.

I recall seeing on one of these lists where someone got a small antenna =
dirt cheap at Radio Shack and attached it directly to the 780 and it =
worked like a charm.  Could anyone who remembered that post, or the =
original poster, enlighten me?
