Perhaps you are not aware that MOST of the scanners sold by Radio Shack
the last few years are made by Uniden. They are not "clones" but
separately designed scanners made by Uniden to Radio Shack's requests.
RS wants things like a Program button, dual power jacks, etc, but the
guts are Uniden. The exception to this was the PRO-90 which was a 235xlt
with a different case. Buying a Uniden-made scanner at Radio Shack does
not give you something to "put up with" - you are getting the same RF
circuitry and trunking capabilities as the Bearcat-labeled scanners, but
with some different features, some of which are not found on the
Bearcats, like the ability to use "AA" batteries, 2 power jacks, etc.
