Ok, Miami Hamfest is February 2 and 3.

Any Motorola radio will blow away a scanner in these areas. That is not
the issue - the first poster thought the price of the digital scanner was
a little high. But when you compare the cost of it to the Astro, it is a
bargain. Plus, you get all band coverage with the scanner.
It all depends what you want to spend and what you want to get for your
money. If you want great adjacent channel rejection, sensitivity, or
audio output in ONE band on a radio you do not need to program by its
keyboard, the Astro is for you. But if you want to be able to monitor a
digital system on a face programmable scanner and also be able to monitor
other systems in several bands, then the scanner is for you. And, with
the scanner you will be able to scan more than one digital system in more
than one band at a time - i.e. you can listen to the 800-MHz Public
Safety system, and the local 400-MHz federal prison system, and the local
900-MHz business system, all at the same time. Astros can't do that in
one radio. Again it's all what you want to spend.
