Greetings All,
In an effort to more-balance the total of calls for Police Service
(The Work Load), the St Louis City Police of Missouri is getting
ready to Re-Draw the District Boundary for the most over-worked,
over-burdened, Wildest Police District in the City - District 3.

District 3 will shrink, geographically. District 3 is currently
bounded by the following Streets & River:

- On the East, the Mississippi River (Illinois)
- On the South, Chippewa St
- On the West, Kingshighway Blvd
- On the North, Chouteau Blvd

So, effective on January 6th, and to last for a trial-period
of 90-days, the 'Northern Border' of District 3 will shrink,
south-ward from Chouteau to I-44 (Lafayette). The current
officers that patrol District 3 in those areas will continue
to patrol those same areas, only now they will be under
the command of either District 9 or District 4. And have
to submit their police reports through those Commanders,
respectively.

It is hoped that this will lessen the tremendous burden
that officers & Commanders in District 3, and of the
whole South Patrol currently has put up with. Districts
4 & 9 are in the Central Patrol Division. District 4 is
the 'DOWNTOWN' district. District 9 is the 'CENTRAL
WEST-END' district in the city. Jefferson Ave, will
continue to mark the boundary between District 4 &
District 9.

Trunk Scanner wise, this might reduce some of the
action on District 3. But, even with this move, there
is still a lot of 'HOT' criminal Real Estate left inside of
District 3. All of this takes effect on January 6th, 2003.
