Wrong. NO company sold ANY "secrets" to ANY scanner maker. The trunking
capabilities in scanners were developed after studying the patents and
system architecture. Greg Knox studied the Motorola patents and
developed a way to track Motorola systems without violating Motorola's
patents. Terry Brennan studied the EDACS system using test equipment and
developed his GWIZ board and then the EDACS tracking of the trunking
scanners. Motorola's control channel patents have since expired so
anyone can develop Motorola tracking - in fact that's exactly what GRE
did with the PRO-92B and later.
