I purchased the Radio Shack PRo-93 Dual-Trunking Scanner yesterday for
$169.99.
I am having problems programming it to work with the Culver City
(California)'s Motorola II Smartnet (UHF) Trunking system.
I have programmed the 6 Trunked frequencies (482.0625, 482.1625, 482.2625,
482.3625, 482.4625, and 482.5625) in Bank 1, Channels 0 to 5 (in Motorola
Mode).
I created and stored 34 Talkgroups and "tagged" them with alphanumeric ID's
(TEXT) in Bank 1-0 and Bank 1-1
I made sure that the ID's are in open mode
I added the normal delay and set the ID delay at 4.0 seconds.
Additionally, I programmed the scanner for the base frequency of 482.0625
(default is 406.0000 MHZ.) but left the offset settings at 380 (default).
(Offset can only go from 380 to 579) and the steps at 25.0 KHz.
(default)(steps are either 12.5 KHz., 25.0 KHz or 50.0 KHz.).
Problem is that the scanner does not scan the trunking frequencies when
placed in scan mode (with just bank 1 showing). However, when I manually go
to the frequencies, I can hear (and see the word control) on one of the
trunking frequencies plus I can hear (and see the ID tags) when I "park" on
one of the other frequencies. It goes from "MOT: none" to the name/tag of
one of the talkgroups.
Is there a step that I am missing in programming this radio ?
I have been on the phone with radio Shack Support but, unfortunately, they
were unable to help..
I shall apprecaite any assistance from this e-mail group.
Thank you,

ps.. Perhaps the problem might be the Base frequency, offset and step
programming ? Is 380 the proper setting for the offset ?
